Single Singers at London A Cappella Festival

Following Sing a Cappella's article - amongst others - asking for participants for the Single Singers at the London A Cappella Festival, lots has been happening on the web. Annemarie Homan and Emily May t'Hoen started it all off, and now there are some 20 singers from all over the world - including some well known names - meeting together for the first time at the Festival, to sing in the foyer at Kings Place after the Swingle Singers concert on Saturday 14 January. The power of the internet!

See how it is going to happen, and read all about it on the London A Cappella Festival site:

We were there to improve our knowledge of a capella singing while learning an arrangement by Ben Parry of Fats Waller's song "This Joint Is Jumpin".

The Complete Vocal Technique was one of the workshops on offer at AAVF this year and was led by Tine Fris (check out Tine's profile on dk.linkedin.com). Tine has studied this system of singing – developed by Cathrine Sadolin (a fellow Dane) - for 12 years. By using a combination of demonstration, group participation and individual coaching 'under glass', she introduced the concept of different 'modes' in the voice and the mechanics of how they can be produced.
